About Miss Sykora

Miss Sykora currently teaches 3rd grade at the Galeton Area School District. Miss Sykora moved back to Galeton in 2015 to be closer to family and to not miss out on watching her two nephews Gavin and Treyton grow up.

Miss Sykora is a graduate of GASD and completed her bachelor’s degree at Lock Haven University in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. Following her undergraduate work, Miss Sykora held many positions including being a Pre-K teacher, Therapeutic Staff Support, and Director of a daycare in New York State. In 2005, she took a position teaching high school special education at a charter school near Lock Haven while completing her master’s degree in Special Education at Bloomsburg University. After receiving her master’s degree, Miss Sykora taught at Fretz Middle School in the Bradford Area School District for 7 years as a 6th grade learning support teacher and then a 6-8th grade Autistic Support teacher. While teaching in the Bradford Area School District, she also became certified to teach middle school English and a teacher of the ABA/Verbal Behavior Program through PATTAN. Miss Sykora joined the Galeton Area School District in August of 2015 as the Autistic Support Teacher, continuing to work and teach in the ABA/Verbal Behavior Program and becoming an internal coach for the program as well. Miss Sykora is going into her 8th year of teaching here at GASD. In the 8 years of teaching in the GASD, Miss Sykora has taught Autistic Support, Emotional Support, Life Skills Support, 4th grade, and now 3rd Grade, as well as being the Internal Coach for the VB program for 7 years.

In her free time, Miss Sykora enjoys spending time with her family, campfires, reading, and watching her nephews and the students here at GASD play sports.
