GALETON HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS - Students in grades 9-12 are required to carry 7 full-time subjects. Students carrying less than the required number of classes must have approval from the principal or guidance counselor to do so.
- In order for students to graduate from Galeton High School, they are required to earn 24 credits, among those 24 credits are the subjects listed in the paragraph below. Students must also complete 40 hours of community service, (grades 9-12) and successfully complete a senior project.
- Students are required to carry and pass the following subjects:
Freshman: English I, History I, Science, Math, Data, Phys. Ed. Sophomores: English II, History II, Biology, Math, Phys. Ed., Music, Driver Ed. Juniors: English III, World Cultures, *Math or Science, Phys. Ed., Health. Seniors: English IV or Communications, Social Studies course, *Math or Science, Phys. Ed. *Students are required to pass Algebra I and a Geometry course and one course in Science after 10th grade. - A minimal passing average of 65 (final average) is required for credit. If a required course is failed (less than 65% final average) the must be repeated. In scheduling, repeated classes will replace electives.
- Certain core subjects are tested as part of the PA system of School Assessment (PSSA) and the curriculum is designed to prepare students for these tests. The PSSA testing occurs in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 11. PSSA testing for science will also be given to grades 4, 8 & 11. It is important that students work hard at their studies, for their education prepares them for the future.
